<Islands, Jeju> records Wayne Levin’s short visit to Jeju Island in South Korea at the time of his visit to Seoul for a group show at Datz Museum of Art in 2014. For Levin, Jeju Island was strange yet familiar; he has been living in Kona area of Big Island in Hawaii and photographing sceneries of the island, both above water and underwater, for a long time.
Fifteen photographs of Jeju Island captured by a stranger who came from an island to another island, are put together
as a portfolio book. The publication coincides with the exhibition of the same title at Datz Museum of Art in Fall 2015.
Like an island, welcoming in wadering souls that have ldft the body,
This island opens a windowless room to a stranger from another island.
the sea and sky openm the wind and light soak into his skin and reappear inthe pupils of his eyes.
